In Brazil, a 54-year-old man has been arrested on charges of sexually abusing and imprisoning his wife, their seven children, and his mother-in-law for over 20 years. The disturbing case came to light when one of the daughters managed to escape from their home in Novo Oriente, Brazil. The man, whose identity has not been disclosed, allegedly kept his wife, now 40 years old, captive for most of their marriage. She was rarely allowed to leave the house, except to collect benefits, always under his supervision.
“None of the neighbours or even her own relatives knew about her situation,” said police spokesperson Herika Ribeiro Sena, as reported by People.
The man also subjected their seven children, aged between 3 and 22, to abuse. Additionally, he allegedly sexually assaulted his now-deceased mother-in-law, who reportedly passed away due to neglect and lack of proper care.
The daughters revealed that the man had installed peepholes in the walls to monitor them while they showered or changed clothes. He also forced them into abortions after raping them.
One of the daughters managed to escape by giving him a sleeping pill and reported the abuse to the authorities. Following a month-long investigation, the police conducted a raid on the house.

The man faces charges of false imprisonment, rape of a vulnerable person, psychological abuse, abortion, and concealing corpses. Ms. Sena praised the daughter for speaking out, stating, “What this daughter did is very important in bringing this to light.”
The accused, currently in custody, denies all allegations. The investigation is ongoing.
