A taxi driver experienced life-threatening injuries after losing control of his vehicle, which jumped a curb and collided with a pole mere steps from the Chinese consulate in Manhattan on Thursday, according to police reports.
In addition to the driver, three other individuals sustained injuries when the yellow cab crashed into a sturdy green traffic pole situated on the sidewalk along Twelfth Avenue close to West 42nd Street at approximately 2:30 p.m. The aftermath left the vehicle severely damaged, as depicted in various images.
The accident occurred right next to the Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China in Hell’s Kitchen.

Sources indicated that investigators are treating the incident as an accident.
The taxi driver was transported to Bellevue Hospital in critical condition.
His two passengers, a 54-year-old woman and a 61-year-old man, along with a 33-year-old man on the sidewalk, were reported to be in stable condition after being admitted to the hospital.
Photographs captured a man in a security guard uniform being taken away on a stretcher.
Video footage displayed the taxi’s vibrant yellow hood tangled around the steel pole.
During the collision, the brightly colored doors of the cab detached and were scattered across the street and sidewalk.
