Amid ongoing recovery efforts following Hurricane Milton, a heartwarming selfie has captured attention.

Florida’s Hillsborough County Fire Rescue shared a touching moment on their Facebook page last Friday, describing it as a display of pure gratitude and love.

A photo featured in the post showcases a soaked dog looking up at a firefighter, Cpt. Dusty Mascaro, from the Hillsborough County Fire Rescue search and rescue team.

“This dog’s eyes tell the story as he gazes at Cpt. Dusty Mascaro after being rescued,” the post mentioned.

Another image captures Mascaro carrying the dog, believed to be a Bernese mountain dog, through floodwaters.

The post did not specify the exact location of the rescue, and the county fire rescue team did not respond to JS’s request for comment. The agency emphasized their commitment to rescuing both humans and animals, having saved 104 pets to date. Additional photos displayed a group of dogs being transported in a bus.

Following Hurricane Milton’s impact on Florida, several dramatic animal rescues have gained widespread attention.

Florida Highway Troopers shared a video capturing the saving of a dog tied to a fence in flooding near Tampa. The dog, now named Trooper, is under the care of a local animal shelter.

Amid heavy rainfall in Fort Myers, journalist David Barcenas rescued a drenched cat meowing for help from under a car, as captured by his colleague Christopher Salas. Barcenas expressed his willingness to adopt the cat if it doesn’t have a family waiting for her.
