A startling incident occurred in the Gold Coast area early Sunday when two women, disguised as rideshare drivers, stole from a tourist at gunpoint, as reported by the Chicago police.
The victim, a 44-year-old man, was waiting for his rideshare pickup in the 1000 block of North State Street at approximately 1:45 a.m. when a Toyota SUV approached. Claiming to be his ride, the women convinced him to enter the vehicle. Once inside, one of the women brandished a firearm and demanded his possessions.
He relinquished his wallet, watch, and several credit cards before the offenders ordered him out of the SUV at the intersection of LaSalle Drive and Ontario Street. They then fled the scene in an undetermined direction.
The victim managed to signal a city tow truck operator, who promptly called the police for assistance. Thankfully, he sustained no injuries in the ordeal, and, as of now, no arrests have been reported.

CWBChicago was established in 2013 by five concerned residents of Wrigleyville and Boystown who were disillusioned by the misleading information at Community Policing (CAPS) meetings.
Initially covering local events, our focus has broadened to include Lincoln Park, River North, The Loop, Uptown, and other areas on the North Side. Yet, our goal remains singular: to deliver original public safety reports that provide deeper context and detail than traditional media sources.
