Sen. JD Vance of Ohio is standing by former President Donald Trump and his unfounded claims that Venezuelan gangs have “invaded and conquered” Aurora, Colorado.

During a recent interview, Vance tried to challenge factual evidence presented by Martha Raddatz that contradicted Trump’s assertions about criminal migrant gangs taking control of the city.

Trump has persistently alleged that Venezuelan gangs have “taken over” Aurora, Colorado, referring to the area as a “war zone.” However, the Aurora Police Department has refuted these claims.

At a rally, Trump vowed to “rescue” Aurora and other towns that he believes have been overtaken by criminal elements. He proposed putting these individuals behind bars or deporting them from the country.

Trump labeled his initiative to address criminal migrants as “Operation Aurora,” targeting individuals he deems to be lawbreakers.

The Republican mayor of Aurora, Mike Coffman, criticized Trump’s statements, describing them as “grossly exaggerated” and harmful to the city’s reputation and sense of security.

During an interview on ABC’s “This Week,” Vance struggled to defend Trump’s claims, leading to a heated exchange with Raddatz regarding the accuracy of the former president’s statements.

Vance attempted to shift blame to Democratic vice presidential nominee Kamala Harris for issues in Aurora, but Raddatz challenged his assertions.

Ultimately, Raddatz concluded the discussion by affirming that Aurora was not invaded or taken over, contrary to Trump’s claims.
