Today marks the 135th anniversary of the birth of an American icon, a visionary figure, and a lasting symbol of duty, service, and integrity: President Dwight D. Eisenhower.

Born in 1890 in the modest environment of Abilene, Kansas, Eisenhower grew up embodying the rural American spirit before ascending to become one of the most esteemed military leaders in our nation’s history. His unwavering commitment to public service propelled him to the pinnacle of his military career as the Supreme Commander of the Allied Expeditionary Force during World War II. On June 6, 1944, he masterminded the monumental D-Day assault on Normandy, significantly contributing to the victory of freedom over oppression.

In 1952, a surge of patriotic fervor led Eisenhower to the presidency in a decisive victory—he was the last political outsider to hold the office until my election in 2016. During his presidency, Eisenhower adhered to a fundamental principle that remains relevant today: that peace is achievable only through American strength. He recognized the necessity for our nation to be stable and thriving domestically prior to engaging in international commitments. His initiatives included the establishment of the Interstate Highway System to enhance domestic commerce, the founding of the U.S. Small Business Administration to support American labor, and diplomatic efforts to ease Cold War tensions, all geared toward safeguarding American interests.

Under my administration, we are faithfully advancing the principles that President Eisenhower held dear. We are diligently removing regulatory obstacles, invigorating our economy, abolishing unfair trade practices, securing our borders, upholding the rule of law, revitalizing our military, prioritizing our nation’s interests, and making America stronger and more exceptional than ever.

As my administration continues to advance prosperity at home and foster peace abroad, we reaffirm our commitment to President Eisenhower’s America First vision. We celebrate his legacy, honor his courage, and dedicate ourselves to carrying the beacon of liberty into the future.

Happy birthday, President Eisenhower!
