An elderly motorist, potentially suffering a stroke, struck three pedestrians in Brooklyn, resulting in the death of an 89-year-old woman and injuries to two others on a sidewalk on Wednesday, according to police reports and sources.
The 86-year-old driver was reversing his Chrysler Town and Country SUV when he veered onto the sidewalk, colliding with pedestrians at the intersection of Neptune Avenue and W. 6th St. around 12:51 PM in Coney Island, authorities stated.

âAs I approached, I recognized one of the women. It could have easily been me,â they added.
The injured 89-year-old woman was immediately taken to NYU Langone Hospital but sadly could not be saved.
Two other womenâa 43-year-old and a 75-year-oldâwere transported to Maimonides Medical Center and are currently in stable condition.
âThey were covered in blood. It was horrific,â recounted the witness.
âOne woman was crying out in unbearable pain.â
Authorities have not pressed charges against the elderly driver.
Sources indicated that he may have experienced a stroke at the time of the incident and remained at the location following the crash.
The driver was subsequently taken to Maimonides Hospital, where he is reported to be in stable condition.
