Frankie Muniz has posted a new picture from the set of the anticipated revival of “Malcolm in the Middle”, capturing a moment with his co-stars Justin Berfield and Christopher Masterson.
“I wasn’t supposed to share this yet, but I thought of the theme song. I’m just really eager for you all to catch the new episodes, and I truly miss my brothers,” Muniz shared on X. (The original theme by They Might Be Giants repeatedly includes the line “You’re not the boss of me now.”)
Entitled “Malcolm in the Middle: Life’s Still Unfair”, referencing the iconic opening lyric from the theme song, this four-episode revival is scheduled to premiere on Disney+ in 2026. Muniz reprises his role as the titular Malcolm, one of five sons in a chaotic suburban household, joined by Berfield and Masterson as his siblings Francis and Reese, respectively.
Returning for the revival are Bryan Cranston as Malcolm’s dad, Hal; Jane Kaczmarek as his mom, Lois; Craig Lamar Traylor as Stevie Kenarban, Malcolm’s best friend; Gary Anthony Williams as Abe Kenarban, Stevie’s father; Emy Coligado as Piama, Francis’ spouse; and David Anthony Higgins as Craig Feldspar, a colleague of Lois.
Caleb Ellsworth-Clark will portray Dewey, Malcolm’s younger brother, a role initially played by Erik Per Sullivan. Additionally, Anthony Timpano takes on the character of Jamie, who was the youngest sibling in the original series; he was just three years old when the show ended, having been portrayed by James and Lukas Rodriguez. The revival also features a new youngest sibling, Kelly (Vaughan Murrae), who identifies as nonbinary. New characters include Malcolm’s girlfriend, Tristan (Kiana Madeira), and their daughter, Leah (Keeley Karsten).
