Dogs with Unnatural Blue Hue Spotted in Chernobyl Exclusion Zone

In a surprising turn of events, dogs with a bright blue tinge have been seen roaming the Chernobyl exclusion zone. Clean Futures Fund, a non-profit organization, shared two Instagram posts showcasing these unusual canines.

According to Clean Futures Fund, the dogs’ sudden change in color could be attributed to them coming into contact with a mysterious substance. The organization is currently attempting to capture the dogs to investigate the cause behind their unique appearance.

The source of the dogs’ blue hue may not be as alarming as initially thought. Clean Futures Fund suspects that the dogs may have rolled in the ooze leaking from a nearby Porta Potty, leading to their colorful transformation.

The Chernobyl exclusion zone has been devoid of human inhabitants since the catastrophic nuclear incident in 1986. Despite the absence of humans, abandoned pets and their descendants have found a way to survive in this radioactive environment.

Clean Futures Fund has been actively involved in the Dogs of Chernobyl project since 2017, caring for and monitoring the feral cat and dog populations in the area. The recent sighting of the blue dogs occurred during the organization’s ongoing efforts to manage and sterilize these animals.

It is important to note that the blue dogs are not a result of radiation exposure, as clarified by Clean Futures Fund. The organization is focused on capturing the dogs for sterilization to ensure their well-being.

Veterinarian Jennifer Betz, part of the Dogs of Chernobyl team, reassured that as long as the dogs do not ingest the substance causing their blue coloration, it should pose minimal harm to them.

Overall, the appearance of these uniquely colored dogs serves as a reminder of the resilience of wildlife in the Chernobyl exclusion zone, adapting to the challenging conditions left behind by the nuclear disaster.
