An Israeli tourist with ties to the IDF was viciously attacked in Manhattan on Monday while on his way to a kosher deli. Rami Glikstein, 59, from Jerusalem, was targeted by a stranger who ripped off his yarmulke and punched him in the face, causing him to suffer a brain bleed.

The incident occurred outside Mr. Broadway, a popular kosher deli on West 38th Street. The attacker, dressed in all black, aggressively approached Glikstein, questioning his religion before forcibly removing his yarmulke and stomping on it. Moments later, he proceeded to punch Glikstein in the face, causing him to fall to the ground.

Glikstein, known as an Israeli educator and lecturer in the IDF, sustained injuries to his face and internal brain bleeding. Despite the traumatic experience, he remained determined to carry on with his plans to dine at the deli. In a Facebook post written in Hebrew, he defiantly stated that he would not allow the attacker to deter him from enjoying his meal.

A photo shared by Glikstein from his hospital bed showed him with a bandage on his forehead, displaying his resilience in the face of hate. As of Tuesday afternoon, no arrests had been made in connection with the assault.

The disturbing attack serves as a stark reminder of the prevalence of anti-Semitic violence and discrimination in society. It is essential for communities to stand together against such bigotry and support those who are targeted. Glikstein’s bravery in the face of adversity is a testament to the resilience of the Jewish community and their unwavering determination to combat hate.
