But Filmin allowed us to reach a wider audience, showcasing more diverse and international content. It also gives us the opportunity to have a longer festival, running for two weeks instead of just a few days. Plus, it helps us reach more people outside of Barcelona who may not have the chance to attend the physical festival.

What are your goals for the future of Serielizados?

Sala: Our main goal is to keep growing, not only in terms of audience numbers but also in the quality and diversity of the content we showcase. We want to continue to be a platform for emerging talents, a place where creators can showcase their work and connect with industry professionals. We also want to continue to push the boundaries of what TV series can be, elevating the medium to the level of high culture.

Molero: We also want to continue to expand our reach internationally. We have already seen a growing interest from international creators and platforms in participating in our festival. We want to continue to build those relationships and showcase the best of international TV series to our Spanish audience.

With a robust industry section, a diverse series program, and a growing online audience, Serielizados is poised to continue its growth as a premier TV series festival in Spain. As they continue to push the boundaries of what TV series can be and showcase the best of international content, the future looks bright for this dynamic and innovative festival.

The collaboration with Filmin has empowered us to take more daring editorial decisions, allowing us to curate a lineup of series that push boundaries and captivate audiences. This partnership has been instrumental in our ability to showcase a diverse range of content and provide a platform for emerging talent to shine.

One of the highlights of our festival is the online showcase, which has democratized the event and made it accessible to a wider audience. This inclusive approach has been well-received and has helped us reach new viewers who may not have had the opportunity to attend in person.

Our affinity for Nordic content is evident in our programming, with a strong presence of Nordic shows in our lineup. The quality and creativity of Nordic series have always impressed us, and we are thrilled to feature works such as “The Danish Woman,” “Reykjavik Fusion,” “A Better Man,” and “A Life’s Worth” in our competition.

We are also excited to host masterclasses with acclaimed filmmakers such as Benedikt Erlingsson and Henriette Steenstrup, adding a valuable educational component to the festival. The opportunity to learn from industry veterans like Alan Ball further enriches the experience for our attendees and highlights our commitment to fostering talent in the television industry.

In addition to our international offerings, we have also made a concerted effort to spotlight Spanish content. The growth of Spanish series in recent years has been remarkable, and we are proud to showcase 10 Spanish shows at this year’s festival. From political biopics to coming-of-age dramas, our Spanish lineup reflects the diversity and creativity of the local industry.

Documentaries play a significant role in our festival, with a focus on docu-series that resonate with audiences and explore important social issues. This year, we are featuring five compelling titles that shed light on various aspects of society and culture.

Our industry strand, Serielizados Pro, is expanding with the introduction of the first Mind the Gap co-pro pitch session. This initiative aims to foster collaboration and innovation in the industry, providing a platform for creators and producers to connect and develop new projects.

Looking ahead, we are considering venturing into production ourselves, with projects in the pipeline including documentaries. As we continue to grow and evolve, our goal is to remain a vital hub for the television industry, supporting emerging talent and championing innovative storytelling.
