The 2025 World Series saw an emotional tribute to pitcher Alex Vesia, who had to take a leave of absence from the Los Angeles Dodgers to attend to a personal family matter. Both the Dodgers and the Toronto Blue Jays honored Vesia by wearing his No. 51 on their caps for the final two games of the series.

The announcement of Vesia’s absence came before Game 1 of the World Series, and by Game 3, the Dodgers had already started wearing his number on their caps as a gesture of solidarity. The Blue Jays joined in the tribute for Game 6, with relievers Chris Bassitt, Seranthony Dominguez, Mason Fluharty, and Louis Varland also sporting the No. 51.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts expressed his appreciation for the gesture, highlighting the camaraderie and respect among athletes. Dodgers outfielder Enrique Hernandez commended the Blue Jays players for their tribute, acknowledging the significance of their actions amidst the high stakes of the World Series.

Vesia, a valuable left-handed reliever for the Dodgers, had an impressive season with a 3.02 ERA in 68 regular-season games and a 3.86 ERA in seven postseason appearances. Despite not rejoining the team during the World Series, the Dodgers went on to win their second consecutive championship with a thrilling 5-4 victory over the Blue Jays in Game 7.

Both teams recognized the importance of supporting their teammate during a difficult time, emphasizing the human aspect beyond the game of baseball. The Dodgers have not provided further updates on Vesia’s situation, but the tribute during the World Series served as a touching reminder of the bond shared among players in the midst of both triumph and adversity. The world is constantly changing, and with it, so are the ways in which we interact with each other. One of the most significant changes in recent years has been the rise of digital communication platforms. These platforms, such as social media, messaging apps, and video conferencing tools, have revolutionized the way we connect with others, both professionally and personally.

Social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter have become essential tools for staying in touch with friends and family, sharing updates about our lives, and even conducting business. These platforms allow us to connect with people from all over the world, making it easier than ever to stay connected with loved ones, even when they are far away. Additionally, social media has become a powerful tool for businesses to reach their target audiences, promote their products and services, and engage with customers in real-time.

Messaging apps like WhatsApp, Messenger, and Slack have also changed the way we communicate. These apps allow us to send instant messages, share files, and even make voice and video calls, all from the convenience of our smartphones. This has made communication more efficient and convenient than ever before, enabling us to stay in touch with colleagues, friends, and family members at any time, no matter where they are located.

Video conferencing tools like Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and Google Meet have become indispensable in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. With many people working from home and unable to meet in person, these tools have allowed us to conduct virtual meetings, collaborate on projects, and even attend social gatherings from the safety of our own homes. This has not only helped to keep businesses running smoothly during these challenging times but has also enabled us to stay connected with our loved ones when physical contact is not possible.

Overall, digital communication platforms have transformed the way we interact with each other, making communication faster, more convenient, and more accessible than ever before. As technology continues to evolve, it is likely that these platforms will only become more integrated into our daily lives, further changing the way we connect with others in the future.
