A disturbed Instagram user with a troubling history of making violent threats has been apprehended for repeatedly posting a video in which he declared his intention to “execute” President Trump, as per federal authorities.
Trent Schneider, aged 57, was arrested on Monday in a SWAT raid at his residence in suburban Chicago following the alarming posts, which included bizarre rants asserting that the president is an actor with multiple body doubles, according to a criminal complaint.
In one of the videos he posted at least 18 times within a week, Schneider can be heard saying, “I’m going to get some guns. I know where I can get a lot of f—king guns and I am going to take care of business myself.”
The individual had previously come to the attention of the Secret Service in 2022 due to unspecified threats against government officials. Additionally, in the same year, he was arrested for allegedly threatening to “shoot up” a T-Mobile store, but was deemed unfit to stand trial, the federal authorities disclosed.
The recent threats appeared to have been triggered in part by the impending foreclosure of his home, set to be auctioned off the following day, the complaint revealed.
A concerned citizen from Florida reported the troubling video to authorities, leading to federal agents descending on Schneider’s home in Winthrop Harbor on October 22. Upon their arrival, he vehemently protested and filmed the officers as they departed an hour later, posting the video online. Eventually, a SWAT team took him into custody on Monday without any issues.
The disturbing nature of Schneider’s posts and his history of making violent threats have raised serious concerns about the safety of public officials and the potential repercussions of such online behavior.
