LIV Golf has recently made some significant changes to its format as it enters its fifth season. Previously, the league held 54-hole competitions, but now all events will be played in the traditional 72-hole format.
Bryson DeChambeau, a two-time Major championship winner, commended the Saudi-based league for aligning with golf’s traditional format and listening to feedback from players and fans. He stated that the move to 72 holes is a proactive step that enhances the overall experience for everyone involved.
Jon Rahm, the two-time reigning Individual Champion of LIV Golf, described the shift to 72 holes as a massive win for players and fans. He emphasized that the extended format would raise the level of competition in the league and make it more engaging for spectators.
Joining DeChambeau and Rahm in supporting the change, Dustin Johnson expressed his excitement for the return to 72-hole tournaments. The 24-time PGA Tour winner believes that the longer format provides a more challenging and rewarding experience for both players and fans.
While all regular-season tournaments will now be played over 72 holes, the format for the Team Championship is yet to be determined and will be announced at a later date.
