Discord Enhances Family Center for Better Teen Monitoring
Discord has recently introduced updates to its Family Center to provide guardians with more detailed insights into their teens’ usage patterns on the platform. These updates aim to help parents keep track of their teen’s spending habits and time spent on Discord, ensuring a safe and healthy online experience.
The Family Center was initially launched in 2023, offering a basic activity dashboard for guardians to monitor their teen’s server memberships and activity summaries. With the latest enhancements, Discord is expanding the monitoring capabilities to provide a more comprehensive view of teen behavior on the platform.
Guardians can now access information on their teen’s total purchases within the last week, including items bought from Discord’s Shop and Nitro subscriptions. Additionally, they can view the total time spent on voice and video calls in direct messages, groups, and servers over the past week. Discord also provides insights into the top five users and servers the teen has interacted with in the last seven days.
Discord has also introduced new parental controls that can only be adjusted by guardians. These controls include managing who can send direct messages to the teen, filtering sensitive content, and controlling data privacy settings to customize the use of personalized ads.

Furthermore, Discord now offers teens the option to notify their parents or guardians when they report content on the platform. This feature aims to encourage open communication between teens and their guardians while maintaining privacy regarding the reported content.
“The new features empower guardians linked to Family Center accounts to actively create a safer online environment for teens without compromising their privacy,” stated Discord in a blog post.
