Meghan Markle’s Netflix Show “With Love” Holiday Special Fails to Impress Viewers
Meghan Markle’s show, With Love, initially piqued interest when it first debuted in March. However, it quickly lost traction and failed to maintain its popularity. In fact, the show only managed to crack the top 10 most-watched TV series for a single day. By the first half of 2025, With Love was ranked as the 383rd most-watched show, indicating a significant decline in viewership.
The release of the “second” season in August, which consisted of unused material from the initial eight episodes, did not fare any better. The lackluster reception of the back eight episodes was evident as the show failed to secure a spot in the top 10 rankings. Even viewers who were hate-watching the show grew tired of its contrived premise, with one reviewer describing the episodes as “painfully contrived.”
On August 11, Netflix made the decision to end its exclusive deal with Meghan Markle and Prince Harry due to the lack of resonance with viewers for their projects. The only exception was their 2022 docuseries Harry & Meghan, which garnered some attention. The couple was downgraded to a first-look deal, allowing them to pitch ideas for projects, with Netflix having the option to decline and allow them to be shopped elsewhere.
The holiday special of With Love, Meghan serves as the final project from the couple’s original deal with Netflix. Despite their efforts, the show failed to captivate audiences and secure a lasting presence on the streaming platform.
