A shocking incident unfolded in Riverside, California, as police arrested a man on murder charges after his roommate’s body was discovered buried in their backyard. Richard Thomas Martinez, 48, was taken into custody in connection with the alleged killing.
The Riverside Police received a call at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday regarding a resident who had not been seen or heard from in several days. Upon arriving at the home on Sylvan Drive, Martinez, who lived at the residence, confessed to killing his roommate. This admission led to Martinez’s detention and a subsequent search of the property.
Detectives, along with cadaver dogs from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, were called in to assist in the investigation. The cadaver dogs identified an area of freshly disturbed soil in the backyard, prompting detectives to excavate the spot. Tragically, human remains were discovered, later identified as those of 31-year-old Bradley Minder.
Further investigation revealed that Martinez and Minder had been involved in an altercation prior to the alleged killing and burial in the backyard. Martinez was then booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center without bail.
The incident remains under investigation as authorities work to uncover more details surrounding the tragic event. It serves as a grim reminder of the dangers that can exist within seemingly ordinary living arrangements.
