The Los Angeles druggie accused of murdering “American Idol” executive Robin Kaye and her husband inside their ritzy Los Angeles mansion has been deemed incompetent to stand trial for the brutal killings. Raymond Boodarian, 22, will now be transferred to a California state hospital and placed on involuntary psychotropic medication to restore his competency, as ruled by Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Maria Cavalluzzi.

Boodarian, a known heavy drug user with a history of mental illness and multiple prior arrests, was charged with two counts of murder for shooting Kaye and Thomas DeLuca, both 70, dead execution-style in July. The judge stated, “The court finds the defendant is not presently competent to stand trial,” and authorized the administration of psychotropic medication to address his psychiatric condition.

Without the medication, Boodarian was deemed likely to suffer serious harm to his physical and mental health. The specific psychiatric diagnosis of the accused killer was not disclosed. Cavalluzzi added, “The defendant lacks the capacity to make decisions regarding psychotropic medication,” highlighting the necessity of restoration in this homicide case.

Police alleged that Boodarian broke into the $4.5 million Encino mansion of Kaye and DeLuca, shooting them dead with their own gun upon their return from grocery shopping. The couple’s bodies were not discovered until days later during a welfare check by authorities. Boodarian was arrested and charged with two counts of murder the following day, with fingerprints from prior arrests linking him to the crime.

Boodarian’s criminal record includes at least three prior arrests between late 2023 and early 2024, with charges ranging from battery to making threats with a weapon. Despite being released after some of these arrests, he is currently held in custody without bail for the ongoing mental evaluation.

A follow-up hearing for Boodarian is scheduled for December 19. The tragic double murder of Robin Kaye and Thomas DeLuca has shocked the community, leaving many awaiting justice for the senseless loss of these two individuals.
