Austin Dillon is optimistic about the future of Richard Childress Racing (RCR) as he spoke about the formation of a strong group around the No. 3 and No. 8 teams. He referred to this group as a “powerhouse team” and highlighted the key figures that make it so.

Dillon credited the combination of new and returning leaders within RCR for providing a solid foundation for the team. He specifically mentioned individuals like Pohlman, Boswell, Klausmeier, and Street, emphasizing that their collaboration has the potential to elevate RCR to new heights. The involvement of his father, Mike Dillon, who is set to take on a more active role within the organization, further adds to the team’s strength.

Reflecting on his own performance in the 2025 season, Dillon noted a slight improvement with one win at Richmond, five top-ten finishes, and one top-five finish. While it wasn’t a breakthrough year for him, Dillon sees these gains as a sign of progress that can be capitalized on in the upcoming season. In contrast, Kyle Busch faced challenges in 2025, finishing 21st in points with only three top-five finishes. Dillon acknowledged the need for the team to continue improving and focus on the upcoming season.

One of the key developments within RCR is the return of Jim Pohlman to the team. Pohlman, who previously worked with RCR on the Next Gen car, brings valuable experience that Dillon believes will benefit the team. Having been involved in the development of the Next Gen car during his previous tenure at RCR, Pohlman’s familiarity with the technology will be crucial as the team prepares for the upcoming season. Dillon expressed confidence in the team’s ability to support Pohlman as he transitions back to RCR.

Pohlman’s successful partnership with Justin Allgaier at JR Motorsports, which resulted in a championship win in 2024, further underscores his capabilities as a crew chief. His prior experience at RCR in engineering roles and his contributions to the development of the Next Gen car highlight his expertise in the field.

As RCR gears up for the 2026 season, Dillon’s optimism and the addition of key personnel like Pohlman signal a promising future for the team. With a strong leadership core and a focus on continuous improvement, RCR is poised to make significant strides in the competitive world of NASCAR.
