Sarah Ann Weber’s latest series, titled “I Know Her,” delves into the artist’s personal journey as she navigates the birth of her daughter and a move from Los Angeles to Chicago. Through a stunning combination of watercolor and colored pencil, Weber captures the essence of growth and change in her vibrant and intricate artworks.

In these pieces, a nude woman is depicted amidst a dense thicket of florals, her body obscured by the lush surroundings as she cradles a child or attends to other tasks. The intricate details of vines, leaves, and flowers create a mesmerizing backdrop that symbolizes the artist’s own experiences and emotions.

The contrast between the landscapes of Los Angeles and Chicago is a central theme in Weber’s work. The dry, warm climate of LA is juxtaposed with the ever-changing seasons of Chicago, reflected in the bright tropical palettes and muted winter fields that populate her paintings. These shifts in environment mirror the artist’s own internal transformation as she grapples with the complexities of motherhood and relocation.

Drawing on traditions of window paintings and mother-child portraits, Weber weaves architectural elements and tender familial moments into her botanical scenes. The fluid boundaries between nature and human presence highlight the interconnectedness of all things and the inevitability of change.

“I Know Her” is currently on display at the Anat Ebgi Gallery in Los Angeles until January 10. Viewers can immerse themselves in Weber’s captivating world of vibrant florals and subtle narratives, each piece offering a glimpse into the artist’s personal journey and emotional landscape.
