Amber Cowan is celebrated for her intricate assemblages of flameworked glass, which offer a fresh perspective on a widely used yet delicate material. Her creations are a vibrant mix of flowers, filigree, and colorful ornaments, coming together in rich compositions that echo fairy tales and playful nature scenes. Cowan often utilizes industrial remnants, antiques, and discarded items, enabling her to incorporate unique products and colors that have fallen out of production.
Based in Philadelphia, Cowan is currently focusing on cloche and coupe sculptures in addition to her wall-mounted pieces. She is gearing up for several forthcoming exhibitions, including one at San Francisco’s Museum of Craft and Design in September and another at Design Miami in December. Her work is currently featured in The Passion of Collecting at The Baker Museum in Naples, Florida. More of her work can be explored on Instagram.
