The 59th annual CMA Awards show took place at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena, with ABC broadcasting the event live. As the three-hour show unfolded, viewers were treated to a plethora of performances and award presentations. One standout of the night was Ella Langley, who emerged as an early frontrunner with three wins out of her six nominations. Alongside duet partner Riley Green, Langley clinched the titles for single of the year and song of the year with their hit “You Look Like You Love Me.” Additionally, their music video for the same song was awarded prior to the telecast.
During her acceptance speech for song of the year, Langley expressed her gratitude, stating, “This song is the gift that keeps on giving. How cool is it that a song with talking verses won song of the year? That’s country music,” with Green echoing her sentiments.
Another standout winner was Zach Top, who secured the highly contested trophy for best new artist, edging out Langley for at least one prize. Langley, alongside Lainey Wilson and Megan Moroney, led the nominations with six nods each, closely followed by Top with five.
In the vocal duo category, country legends Brooks & Dunn reaffirmed their dominance by winning the award for the 16th time. The duo, comprised of Kix Brooks and Ronnie Dunn, expressed their enduring passion for their craft, with Brooks exclaiming, “I heard earlier in the night, ‘You ever get sick of this?’ Hell no!”
Hosted solely by Lainey Wilson this year, the show featured a memorable performance by Wilson herself, who sang a medley of modern country classics and engaged with audience members who originated the songs. The evening also saw performances by Luke Combs, Megan Moroney, and Stephen Wilson Jr., who received the night’s first standing ovation with a solo acoustic cover of “Stand by Me.”
As the winners were announced throughout the show, the excitement continued to build. From Entertainer of the Year to Music Video of the Year, each category showcased the immense talent within the country music industry. The event culminated in a celebration of the genre’s brightest stars and emerging talents, solidifying the CMA Awards as a premier platform for honoring excellence in country music.
