Netflix has officially greenlit a new series titled “Trigger Point,” which will be produced by A24 and star Joel Edgerton. The eight-episode action crime drama will center around a group of former Tier One Special Forces Operators who utilize their elite skills for the criminal underworld under the guise of a private military contracting firm. The series will also follow an FBI agent who is on a mission to track them down. Edgerton will take on the role of Red, the leader of the criminal group.
Showrunner Harrison Query and director Jeremy Saulnier are set to helm the project, with Joe Hipps and Patrick Macdonald from Cut To serving as executive producers. Edgerton, who is currently generating Oscar buzz for his performance in “Train Dreams,” has an impressive list of credits including roles in “Star Wars,” “The Great Gatsby,” “Loving,” and his own directorial efforts in “The Gift” and “Boy Erased.”
Query, known for his work on Amazon Prime Video’s “Heads of State” and the upcoming Paramount+ series “Unspeakable: The Murder of JonBenét Ramsey,” will bring his expertise to “Trigger Point.” The news of the series order was first reported by Deadline.
