Multiple individuals sustained injuries in a significant explosion that occurred on Saturday at a senior living apartment complex in Austintown, Ohio.
The explosion, which caused substantial damage to the Phoenix House apartment building, happened shortly before 1 p.m., as reported by Fox 8.
Assistant Chief Tom O’Hara of the Austintown Fire Department informed the outlet that several individuals were injured, but there were no immediate reports of fatalities.
A resident named Cindy Duke described the explosion to FOX 8 as feeling like a bomb went off.
Another resident, Don Lampley, who is a double amputee, stated in an interview with the outlet that he was watching a football game with a friend when they heard a loud blast followed by a powerful explosion.
Authorities have not yet disclosed the cause of the explosion.
The Austintown Township Police Department and Mahoning County Sheriff’s Office did not respond immediately to inquiries from Fox News Digital.Â
The Austintown Fire Department chose not to comment on the incident.
