In the early hours of Tuesday morning, four women fell victim to armed robberies in the Boystown neighborhood of Chicago. The incidents occurred just minutes apart, with both involving armed men targeting pedestrians shortly after midnight.
The first robbery took place in the 600 block of West Stratford, where three women aged 20 and 21 were walking together around 12:13 a.m. A black sedan pulled up alongside them, and two men brandishing firearms emerged. The perpetrators stole valuables from each victim before fleeing in the car. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in this incident.
Just two minutes later, at around 12:15 a.m., a 23-year-old woman was robbed in the 3200 block of North Broadway. She was standing outside when two men approached her, one of whom displayed a gun. The woman handed over her belongings, and the offenders fled east on Belmont Avenue. As with the first robbery, no arrests have been made in connection with this case, and the Chicago Police Department did not release descriptions of the robbers.
These incidents bear a resemblance to a crime spree that occurred in the neighborhood and nearby Lincoln Park on November 9, where up to three men robbed pedestrians at gunpoint after emerging from vehicles.
CWBChicago, a local news outlet, was founded in 2013 by residents of Wrigleyville and Boystown who were dissatisfied with the accuracy of information provided at Community Policing meetings. While the coverage area has since expanded to include Lincoln Park, River North, The Loop, Uptown, and other North Side areas, the mission remains the same: to deliver original public safety reporting with more context and detail than mainstream media sources.
