New York Giants quarterback Russell Wilson recently hosted former NFL player Trevone Boykin at his home for Thanksgiving celebrations. Boykin appeared on the “Nightcap” show and described the event as “weird” because Wilson’s family was not present during the festivities.

Upon hearing Boykin’s comments, fans quickly criticized him for seemingly taking a dig at Wilson’s Thanksgiving gathering. One Twitter user wrote, “Boykin is weird for saying this, that man invited you into his home. Clown behavior for clout.” Another added, “Opened his home to you at the end of the day. It’s just trendy to s*it on Russ now.”

More reactions poured in, with one person questioning Boykin’s decision to criticize Wilson after being invited into his home. Another user pointed out the irony of Boykin wearing a sideways baseball cap indoors, while someone else highlighted that Wilson’s wife and children were indeed present at the celebration.

Boykin, who previously played as a backup for Wilson on the Seattle Seahawks, faced legal troubles in 2018 related to domestic assault allegations. He was subsequently released from the team and later sentenced to three years in prison for aggravated assault in 2020.

In 2023, Boykin joined the Galgos de Tijuana in the Mexican Liga de FĂştbol Americano Profesional before moving to the Dinos de Saltillo in 2025. Meanwhile, Wilson’s Giants are set to face the New England Patriots in Week 13 of the 2025 NFL season. Wilson currently serves as the team’s QB3 behind Jasxon Dart and Jameis Winston.

As the NFL matchup approaches, Wilson continues to make headlines both on and off the field. Despite the controversy surrounding Boykin’s comments, Wilson remains focused on leading his team to victory in the upcoming game against the Patriots.
