In a striking turn of events, Ronald Exantus, a convicted murderer responsible for the death of a 6-year-old boy, has been released from prison significantly early, only to face arrest once again in Florida just a week later.

Exantus was imprisoned for a 20-year term in Kentucky following the horrific 2015 home invasion murder of Logan Tipton, where it was reported that Exantus attacked the sleeping child with multiple stabbings, also injuring other family members, as detailed by WKYT.

Despite the severity of the crime, the jury found Exantus not guilty by reason of insanity regarding the murder charge, leading to a conviction for lesser charges such as assault.

The decision to grant parole was particularly controversial, as Exantus was released after serving only eight years—less than half of his original sentence. Alarmingly, this decision came after the Kentucky Department of Corrections chose to overrule the parole board’s recommendation to keep him incarcerated.

Understandably, the Tipton family expressed their outrage over both the premature release and subsequent arrest. Logan’s mother described the parole decision as “__a slap in the face__,” while his father vowed that he would take action if he ever crossed paths with Exantus again.

Karoline Leavitt commented on X, stating, “I can confirm the White House is looking into this. It’s wholly unacceptable for a child killer to walk free after just several years in prison.”

Remarkably, Exantus, just days after his release, relocated to Marion County, Florida, choosing to settle alarmingly close to an elementary school, as reported by FOX35.

Records from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office indicate that Exantus was booked on new charges shortly after his move:

  • Violation of Parole — Aggravated Assault with a Weapon
  • Failure to Register as a Convicted Felon

Marion County deputies apprehended Exantus in coordination with law enforcement from both Florida and Kentucky, following his failure to register as a convicted felon.

The Florida Attorney General, James Uthmeier, stated that steps are being taken to extradite Exantus back to Kentucky.

Uthmeier mentioned on X:

“My office has been collaborating with State Attorney Gladson’s office in Marion County since we became aware that this dangerous individual, who murdered a child through horrific stabbings, was in Florida. Today, we obtained a warrant for the arrest of Ronald Exantus for failure to register as a convicted felon, and state officials are now working on his extradition back to Kentucky. I extend my gratitude to Sheriff Woods and State Attorney Gladson for their commitment to keeping our communities safe from this dangerous individual.”

This afternoon, the Marion County Sheriff’s Office and 5th Judicial Circuit State Attorney’s Office obtained a warrant for the arrest of Ronald Exantus for failure to register as a convicted felon. State officials are now working to send him back to Kentucky. I want to thank Sheriff Woods and State Attorney Gladson for keeping our communities safe from this dangerous felon.

Even tech mogul Elon Musk weighed in on the situation, tweeting, “This will save innocent lives.”
