Roman Reigns, the reigning Universal Champion in WWE, has faced off against some of the biggest names in the business. However, there was one dream match that almost came to fruition but was unfortunately canceled. Karrion Kross recently revealed details about a scrapped three-way match involving himself, Reigns, and Drew McIntyre.
Kross and his wife Scarlett had a tumultuous second stint with WWE, which came to an end earlier this year. During a conversation on the Scaredy Cast podcast, Karrion Kross shared insights into a memorable angle he had with Drew McIntyre and Roman Reigns back in 2022.
The former NXT Champion expressed his excitement about the potential storyline and how he was looking forward to seeing it unfold. However, to his dismay, a change in the creative team resulted in the storyline being abruptly dropped without any resolution.
“I would have liked to have paid off the match with Roman Reigns. I had heard a few different variations of what was supposed to happen with that. One of the variations was like a potential triple threat between me, Drew, and Roman when we first came back. But somebody else came back to the company and got involved with creative shortly after us and completely killed that and then drove, you know, Drew off a cliff,” Kross revealed.
In addition to the missed opportunity with Reigns and McIntyre, Karrion Kross also shed light on the contentious contract negotiations with WWE. He disclosed that the company resorted to unethical tactics during the talks, leaving a sour taste in his mouth. Kross mentioned that he was threatened with the higher-ups being informed that he declined the offer if he didn’t agree to the existing terms.
“We know what’s going on. And if the conversation is not going to proceed fairly, then we’ll just say, ‘Hey, we’d like to keep dialogue open. We’re not saying no, but we’d like to keep the dialogue open. We’d like to further discuss this. At one point, the guy was like, ‘Well, we’re going to tell them that you declined the offer,’ and I said, ‘Don’t do that because that’s not what I did.’ Don’t put words in my mouth. Don’t tell them that I declined the offer… The whole conversation felt strategic and very gross,” Kross explained.
As a result of the contentious negotiations and the unresolved storyline, it appears unlikely that Karrion Kross and Scarlett will be returning to WWE anytime soon. Despite the missed opportunity for a high-profile match with Roman Reigns and Drew McIntyre, Kross remains focused on his future endeavors outside of the company.
