Josko Gvardiol has expressed strong support for Enzo Maresca, believing he can uphold the high standards set by Pep Guardiola at Manchester City. Gvardiol is confident that Maresca, who previously worked with Chelsea, has the necessary qualities and innovative ideas to advance the team.
After Manchester City’s pre-season defeat to Inter Milan, Gvardiol addressed the media, noting that the team is adapting to a new style of play, which will require time. He emphasized the players’ commitment to performing their best on the field, with the manager determined to drive them towards improvement. He remarked:

“The level is that high and he has been chosen with reason as the manager. I think he has a quality, has some new ideas and also we need to see what we are going to do (with) the style of (play), the football we are going to play and the tactics.”
“I think he is a perfect one, but of course, it takes time. It’s something totally new, it’s not easy to change the manager, so we will take time. It’s our job to help him as much as possible and also to listen to try to adapt as quick as possible. Gvardiol recently signed a five-year contract extension with Manchester City. The defender, who had been negotiating with the club for a new contract last season, has now officially committed to the team. Reflecting on his new contract, the former RB Leipzig player commented:
“As soon as I knew Manchester City wanted to renew my contract, I felt straight away it was what I wanted. The City fans have been unbelievable with me from day one – and the club provide absolutely everything for players. It’s the best club in the world to be at. I have felt so much love and respect during my three years here and I don’t take that for granted.”
