Kayla Harrison recently shared her thoughts on the possibility of Ronda Rousey making a return to combat sports. The UFC women’s bantamweight champion also addressed the rumors surrounding Rousey’s potential boxing match against Katie Taylor.
After Rousey posted some training footage on social media earlier this year, speculation arose about her potential comeback to the fighting world. While Rousey initially downplayed the rumors, she did not completely rule out the idea of returning to competition. According to reports from Boxing Scene via MMA Fighting, Rousey is currently in talks for a lucrative boxing match against Katie Taylor scheduled for next year.
During a recent interview with Ariel Helwani, Harrison shared her thoughts on Rousey’s rumored return to fighting. Referring to a possible showdown between them as "free money," Harrison remarked, "Yeah, that’d be some free money… We’re not friends."
When Helwani suggested that Rousey might be serious about a comeback, Harrison expressed surprise and curiosity about who Rousey would potentially face. Regarding the rumored fight against Katie Taylor, Harrison exclaimed, "Shut up, really? Who’s she going to fight? I love this. Holy sh*t, dude, really? Sometimes I can’t even write. It’s too poetic."
In a separate interview earlier this year, Rousey addressed the idea of participating in a comeback fight on the UFC White House card next year. Despite not completely shutting the door on a return to combat sports, Rousey made it clear that she was not interested in fighting at the White House event. The UFC White House card is part of the America250 celebrations and has garnered interest from high-profile fighters like Conor McGregor and Jon Jones.
During an interview on The Lapsed Fan Podcast, Rousey firmly rejected the notion of fighting at the White House and stated, "I am not fighting at the White House. I mean, after Mike Tyson being the biggest fight of the year [vs. Jake Paul], you never say never [on a return]. But I ain’t fighting on the f*king White House… I got better sht to do. My kids need pasta."
As rumors and speculations continue to swirl around Ronda Rousey’s potential return to combat sports, fans eagerly await any official announcements regarding her future plans. Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story.
