An Afghan national residing in Fort Worth, Texas, has been charged with planning a suicide car or truck bombing in the United States. Mohammad Dawood Alokozay, 30, posted a video on social media platforms like TikTok and Facebook days before Thanksgiving, expressing his intention to use an improvised explosive device to target Americans and “infidels.” The Department of Justice revealed that Alokozay planned to use a yellow cooking oil favored by the Taliban for the attack.

The video call, conducted in Dari, a language commonly spoken in Afghanistan, showed Alokozay angrily gesturing and interacting with at least two other males. Fortunately, the FBI’s Dallas Field Office, along with other law enforcement agencies, managed to thwart the attack before it could be carried out. Alokozay has been charged with making threatening communications in interstate commerce and is currently in custody awaiting an initial appearance before a US magistrate judge.

Attorney General Pam Bondi emphasized the public safety threat posed by Alokozay’s intentions, stating that he explicitly came to the US during the Biden administration with the sole purpose of killing American citizens. Bondi criticized the Biden administration’s vetting process, highlighting the need for stronger measures to protect the American people from potential threats.

The arrest of Mohammad Dawood Alokozay serves as a reminder of the ongoing efforts to prevent acts of terrorism and violence on US soil. The Department of Justice, in collaboration with federal and state partners, remains committed to safeguarding the nation against individuals who seek to harm innocent civilians.
