Singapore’s Mediacorp has officially announced its partnership with Chinese production house Linmon Media to create the highly anticipated sequel to the popular drama series “Nothing But Thirty.” The new series, titled “Only Thirty-Five,” was unveiled at the Asia TV Forum and Market, with the support of Singapore’s Infocomm Media Development Authority. This collaboration marks a significant milestone in the companies’ relationship, following a memorandum of understanding signed at last year’s ATF.

The storyline of “Only Thirty-Five” will follow the lead character Gu Jia as she embarks on a fresh start after reaching the age of 35. Teaming up with Jiang Lili, a successful businesswoman facing her own personal challenges, the two women join forces to establish a domestic services company. The narrative of the sequel will delve into themes of trust, renewal, and second chances as Gu Jia and Jiang Lili navigate through the complexities of rebuilding their lives.

Production for “Only Thirty-Five” is scheduled to commence in 2026, with filming locations set in both China and Singapore. The series aims to showcase talent from both countries, further enhancing the cultural exchange between the two entertainment industries.

The original series, “Nothing But Thirty,” achieved immense success, amassing over 5.5 billion views on Tencent Video and dominating the platform’s top spot for 21 consecutive days. The show’s popularity has led to adaptations in various countries including Thailand, Vietnam, Japan, and South Korea.

Mediacorp’s chief content officer, Virginia Lim, expressed her excitement about the partnership with Linmon Media, stating, “Partnering with Linmon Media allows us to combine our creative strengths in crafting a sequel that stays true to the authenticity and relevance of the original series. The success of the first installment has paved the way for an equally compelling sequel, with production taking place in both China and Singapore.”

Linmon Media’s chair and founder, Su Xiao, highlighted the strategic importance of the Singaporean market in the company’s global expansion. Su emphasized a collaborative approach in sharing creative concepts and industry standards between China and Singapore, fostering mutual growth in the film and television sectors.

In addition to the “Only Thirty-Five” project, Linmon Media unveiled an exciting lineup of upcoming titles at the ATF showcase. The diverse slate includes fantasy, romance, medical drama, and large-scale costume storytelling, such as “Infinite 10 Days,” “Huo Wang,” “Light Through the Eternal Storm,” “Sunshine Through the Rain,” “The Heart” Season 2, “In the Moonlight,” and “Love Between Lines.” The showcase also featured a special on-stage conversation with Bao Shang’en and Wang Hongyi, the stars of “In the Moonlight,” discussing their roles in the series.

As the collaboration between Mediacorp and Linmon Media continues to flourish, audiences can look forward to more captivating storytelling and innovative productions that bridge the cultural and creative landscapes of both Singapore and China. Stay tuned for updates on the highly anticipated sequel, “Only Thirty-Five,” and the exciting lineup of upcoming projects from Linmon Media.
