The Fire and Emergency NZ received a call about a fire in a single dwelling on Constant St around 8pm. Crews from Port Chalmers and Ravensbourne quickly responded to the scene.
During the firefighting efforts, the firefighters found a man inside the smoke-filled house. They managed to pull him out of the building, where he showed signs of possible smoke inhalation.
Paramedics from Hato Hone St John arrived at the scene shortly after and assessed the man’s condition. Fortunately, he only had minor injuries and did not require further medical attention.
Authorities do not suspect any foul play in relation to the fire incident.
