Motorola Moto G06 Review: A Decent Phone for Under £70

The Moto G06 is a budget-friendly handset from Motorola that offers a range of features at an affordable price point. While it may not have all the bells and whistles of more expensive models, it still provides a solid performance for everyday use.

Design & Build:
The Moto G06 sports a large 6.88-inch screen with a teardrop notch at the top and a black chin at the bottom. The phone has a vegan leather finish on the back, which feels soft and doesn’t attract fingerprints. It also includes a 3.5mm headphone jack, a fingerprint scanner on the side, and a plastic case for added protection.

Screen & Speakers:
The HD+ display on the Moto G06 supports a 120Hz refresh rate but the colors appear muted and washed out. The built-in speakers provide decent sound quality, but headphones are recommended for a better audio experience.

Specs & Performance:
The Moto G06 comes with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage, with the option to expand storage up to 1TB with a microSD card. The device runs on the Helio G81 processor and performs adequately for everyday tasks, although more demanding apps and games may cause some lag.

Cameras:
The Moto G06 features a single 50MP rear camera that produces natural colors but struggles with autofocus on moving subjects and fine details. The zoom performance is also lacking, as digital zoom results in blurry and soft images.

Battery Life & Charging:
The Moto G06 boasts a 5200mAh battery that lasts more than a day on a single charge. However, the device only supports 10W wired charging, which is slower compared to its predecessor.

Software & Apps:
The Moto G06 runs on Android 15 with Motorola’s custom software layer. While the device includes some useful features like Moto Unplugged for managing notifications, it also comes with a lot of preloaded bloatware that may be unnecessary for some users.

Price & Availability:
The Moto G06 has an RRP of £109.99 in the UK but is available for less from various retailers. It’s not currently available in the US, but it offers good value for budget-conscious consumers.

In conclusion, the Moto G06 is a competent device with some compromises. It offers solid battery life, decent camera performance, and a large screen at an affordable price. However, it may feel a bit dated in terms of design and performance compared to other budget smartphones on the market.
