Marcello Hernández, the breakout star from “Saturday Night Live,” is set to release his first stand-up comedy special on Netflix. Titled “American Boy,” the hour-long special will debut on January 7 and was filmed in front of a hometown crowd in Miami. In “American Boy,” Hernández reflects on his experiences growing up as a first-generation American.
Directed by Nicholaus Goossen and executive produced by Hernández and Matthew Vaughan, “American Boy” is a production of Rotten Science. The 28-year-old comedian joined “SNL” in 2022 and has quickly become a rising star on the show. His memorable performances include playing Domingo in musical sketches and impersonating Sebastian Maniscalco. Hernández’s characters often showcase his Cuban and Dominican heritage.
In addition to his work on “SNL,” Hernández has appeared in “Happy Gilmore 2” alongside Adam Sandler and the miniseries “Dying for Sex” with Michelle Williams. Upcoming projects for Hernández include voice roles in “Shrek 5” and “The Angry Birds Movie 3,” as well as a role in the comedy film “72 Hours” starring Teyana Taylor and Kevin Hart.
