BMW Driver Hits and Kills Man in Bronx Hit-and-Run
A tragic incident occurred in the Bronx early Saturday morning when a BMW driver fatally struck a man crossing a street and fled the scene, leaving his passenger behind. Shariq Bryant, 27, was attempting to cross East 222nd Street when the 2025 BMW M8 driver hit him while speeding towards the Boston Road intersection in Williamsbridge.
Bryant, who lived nearby, was rushed to Jacobi Medical Center with severe injuries but sadly did not survive. Described as a warm and caring individual, Bryant’s family set up a GoFundMe page to honor his memory and support his loved ones during this difficult time.
After hitting Bryant, the driver continued east on the same street and eventually crashed into a telephone pole before fleeing on foot, leaving his injured passenger behind. The passenger, a 28-year-old man, sustained minor injuries and did not require hospitalization.
Authorities are still searching for the driver responsible for this hit-and-run incident. This tragedy comes shortly after another incident in Queens where a 68-year-old grandfather was killed by a wrong-way moped driver. Trevor Lloyd Samuels, a former correction officer from Jamaica, was struck and killed by the moped driver, who was later arrested and charged with aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.
