Google Introduces Shoppable Discovery Feed in Doppl App

In an exciting announcement on Monday, Google revealed the launch of a shoppable discovery feed in Doppl, its innovative app that leverages AI technology to help users visualize different outfits.

The primary goal behind this new feed is to provide users with personalized recommendations, allowing them to discover and virtually try on new items. The feed showcases a wide range of shoppable products, each with direct links to merchants for easy purchasing.

Powered by AI, the discovery feed features engaging videos of real products and suggests outfit combinations based on each user’s unique style. Google analyzes user preferences and interactions within Doppl to personalize the feed according to individual tastes.

This move comes at a time when short-form video feeds, popularized by platforms like TikTok and Instagram, have reshaped how users consume content and make purchasing decisions. While other platforms rely on real influencers to showcase products, Google’s feed is exclusively comprised of AI-generated content.

Despite potential concerns about an AI-generated feed, Google views this approach as a way to present products in a familiar format that aligns with current user behaviors. Additionally, it represents a strategic shift towards e-commerce, particularly as Google faces increasing competition from companies like Amazon and social media platforms.

It’s important to note that Doppl has previously utilized AI-generated images to showcase virtual outfits. By converting these static images into dynamic videos, users can better visualize how the clothing would look in real life.

The shoppable discovery feed is now available on Doppl for iOS and Android users in the U.S. who are 18 and older.

While a feed comprised solely of AI-generated content may have seemed unconventional in the past, the concept is gaining momentum. For instance, OpenAI recently launched Sora, a social media platform dedicated to AI videos, and Meta introduced “Vibes,” a short-form video feed of AI-generated content within the Meta AI app.
