Long Island “Sports Dad” Attacked by Vendor Outside Beacon Theatre

A Long Island “sports dad” was viciously assaulted by a street vendor outside Manhattan’s renowned Beacon Theatre over a $20 purchase, resulting in a traumatic brain injury, as per police sources and his family. Sean Llewellyn, 47, had just exited a concert at the Upper West Side venue on Broadway near West 75th Street on the night of November 30 when he attempted to buy something from a vendor selling trinkets outside, sources reported.

Llewellyn handed the seller $20 and was expecting change, but the vendor absconded with the bill, the sources added. When Llewellyn pursued him, the vendor was joined by a group of individuals who proceeded to physically assault the father, the sources disclosed.

The altercation resulted in Llewellyn being hospitalized with a traumatic brain injury and a fractured eye socket, according to a GoFundMe campaign established on behalf of his family. There were no reports of weapons being used during the violent incident, sources confirmed.

His family mentioned that Llewellyn faces a challenging road to recovery ahead, including upcoming surgery, as stated on the fundraising page.

“Sean is a devoted family man, a proud sports dad, and the ‘fun coach’ everyone adores,” the page details.

“As the primary breadwinner for his family, which includes his three young sons at home, this tragedy has imposed a significant financial burden,” his relatives expressed.

“With Sean unable to work and substantial medical expenses looming, the family requires immediate assistance.”

Llewellyn, hailing from Long Beach, is a youth hockey coach, and he and his wife Shannon are described as committed members of their community, according to the GoFundMe campaign.

“They consistently devote their time to support fundraisers for those in need, organize church events, and volunteer in various capacities,” their loved ones articulated.

“Their kindness and dedication have impacted numerous lives, and now, during their time of need, the community has an opportunity to give back.”

As of Friday, no arrests had been made in connection to the unprovoked assault.
