In a remote ranch in Arizona, a heroic dog named Buford, a 6-year-old Anatolian Pyrenees, went above and beyond to save a missing 2-year-old boy who had wandered 7 miles from his home and spent the night in the desert.

The Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of the missing toddler, Boden Allen, who had wandered away from his home in Seligman, Arizona. Over 40 search and rescue workers and deputies searched for 16 hours before the toddler was found safe.

Surprisingly, it was Buford who found the child before the search team. Buford’s owner, Scotty Dundon, recounted how the dog led the toddler back to the ranch.

The toddler’s survival in the wilderness, dressed in just a tank top and pajama pants, remains a mystery. Authorities even spotted mountain lions in the area he traversed.

Dundon expressed disbelief at the toddler’s journey and brought him into his home, offering food and water. The toddler shared that he had been found by Buford.

Although how Buford found the child remains unknown, Dundon believes his dog guided the toddler to safety. Anatolian Pyrenees are known for their guarding instincts but also their love for children.

The heartwarming reunion between Boden and his parents was emotional, with the toddler found in good health despite a few cuts and scrapes.

Buford, the hero dog, was rewarded with a 2-pound rib-eye steak for his incredible role in bringing the lost toddler back home. He truly is a remarkable companion.
