Frankie Muniz is making a highly anticipated return to television in the upcoming four-episode reboot of the beloved sitcom “Malcolm in the Middle.” The new series, titled “Life’s Still Unfair,” has Muniz reprising his role as the boy-genius Malcolm Wilkerson, a character that made him a household name in the early 2000s.

In a recent interview with People, Muniz opened up about his experience working on the reboot, expressing a newfound sense of pride in calling himself an actor. Despite having a successful career in various endeavors outside of acting, Muniz revealed that this project brought him immense joy and fulfillment.

The original “Malcolm in the Middle” series, which aired from 2000 to 2006, followed the chaotic and hilarious adventures of the Wilkerson family, with Muniz starring alongside Bryan Cranston and Jane Kaczmarek. The show garnered a dedicated fan base and critical acclaim during its seven-season run.

Reflecting on his time on the original series, Muniz admitted to feeling some apprehension about returning to the role after two decades. As a young actor during the show’s initial run, he approached the role of Malcolm with a carefree attitude. However, as an adult, Muniz found himself grappling with self-imposed pressure and expectations.

Despite his initial doubts, Muniz was pleasantly surprised to find that stepping back into Malcolm’s shoes felt like second nature. The chemistry among the cast members was as strong as ever, with everyone effortlessly slipping back into their beloved characters from the moment they reunited for the first table read.

Filming the reboot of “Malcolm in the Middle” proved to be a highlight of Muniz’s career, with the actor describing it as one of the best experiences he’s ever had on set. The pressure of delivering a successful project was alleviated by the knowledge that the show had a passionate fan base that would appreciate the revival.
