The highly anticipated Season 14 of Fox’s hit show “The Masked Singer” is almost here, and Variety has the exclusive scoop on three new costumes that will be featured on the show: Eggplant, Owl, and “14 Karat Carrot,” a playful nod to the show’s 14th season.
Joining these new costumes are previously announced characters such as Pugcasso, Queen Corgi, Scarab, Croissants, Snow Cone, Galaxy Girl, High Voltage, and Googly Eyes. In total, 18 contestants will be competing in this season, which kicks off with a two-hour premiere on Wednesday, Jan. 7 at 8 p.m. ET on Fox.
After taking a break this fall, “The Masked Singer” is back with familiar faces like host Nick Cannon and panelists Jenny McCarthy Wahlberg, Ken Jeong, Robin Thicke, and Rita Ora. This season introduces a new segment called “America’s Insider,” where singer, dancer, and social media personality Kylie Cantrall will provide behind-the-scenes hints and clues for viewers. The twist is that Cantrall will be in disguise, but will reveal her true identity to the audience, keeping the panelists guessing.
Season 14 will feature themed episodes based on popular franchises like “Star Trek,” “Clueless,” “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles,” “Twilight,” “Spice Girls,” and “Care Bears.” Additionally, there will be special nights dedicated to “Fear Factor” with host Johnny Knoxville and an “Ozzfest Night” honoring the late rocker Ozzy Osbourne, featuring a tribute by former contestant Kelly Osbourne.
According to the show, the Season 14 contestants have collectively sold 94 million records, received 47 Teen Choice Award nominations, 12 Emmy nominations, two stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, one Tony Award win, and one Academy Award nomination.
“The Masked Singer” is produced by Fox Entertainment Studios and is based on a South Korean format created by Mun Hwa Broadcasting Corp. Executive producers include showrunner Rosie Seitchik, Craig Plestis, and Nick Cannon.
