Following the tragic death of 19-year-old Walmart employee Gursimran Kaur, an outpouring of support has been shown for her family. The Maritime Sikh Society, to which Kaur’s family belongs, shared on their GoFundMe page that they have raised over $194,949 to assist the bereaved family as they prepare for her funeral.

The society expressed deep gratitude for the donations, stating that the kindness and generosity have been a source of strength for the family during this difficult time. They announced that donations will now be distributed to support the family in the next steps.

Halifax Regional Police reported that Kaur was tragically found dead inside an oven in the bakery section of a Halifax Walmart on October 19. Described as a young girl with big dreams, Kaur had been working at the store for two years alongside her mother, who discovered her body after losing contact with her.

Constable Martin Cromwell mentioned that the investigation into how Kaur entered the oven is ongoing and complex.
