The recent CBS News special, “Rob Reiner — Scenes From a Life,” drew in an average of 6.2 million viewers on Sunday night, with 858,000 of those viewers falling within the demographic of adults aged 25-54, according to Nielsen.
The 45-minute special featured new interviews with friends of the late filmmaker, including Kathy Bates, Annette Bening, Albert Brooks, Michael Douglas, Kiefer Sutherland, Jerry O’Connell, and Mandy Patinkin. These individuals shared their reflections on Reiner’s career and legacy. The special also included clips from CBS News interviews with Reiner himself, as well as a look back at some of his iconic films such as “The Princess Bride,” “When Harry Met Sally,” and “This Is Spinal Tap.”

Tragically, Reiner and his wife Michele Reiner were found dead in their Los Angeles home on Dec. 14. Their son, Nick Reiner, has been arrested and charged with two counts of murder in connection with their deaths. The couple’s death certificates indicate that they sustained multiple sharp force injuries from a knife, leading to their untimely passing. Nick Reiner faces the possibility of life in prison without parole or the death penalty if convicted. During his court appearance on Dec. 17, he did not enter a plea.
