A tragic incident shook the Broadway community as former child star Imani Smith, known for her role as Young Nala in “The Lion King,” was brutally stabbed to death by her boyfriend, Jordan D Jackson Small, in their New Jersey home. The 26-year-old actress was found with multiple stab wounds and despite being rushed to the hospital, she tragically succumbed to her injuries.

Jackson Small, 35, has been arrested and charged with murder, endangering the welfare of a child, and weapons possession. He is currently held at the Middlesex County Adult Correctional Center awaiting his court appearance. The shocking event has left Smith’s family devastated, especially just days before Christmas. A GoFundMe page set up by her aunt, Kira Helper, described Smith as a vibrant, talented individual with a promising future ahead of her.

Imani Smith’s Broadway career, particularly her role in “The Lion King,” showcased her immense talent and passion for performing. Her family highlighted her role as Young Nala as a reflection of the joy and creativity she brought to the world. Tragically, Smith leaves behind a 3-year-old son who will now be cared for by her grieving parents. They are faced with the heartbreaking task of not only mourning their daughter but also raising her young child and supporting their own family through this traumatic time.

The devastating loss of Imani Smith has sent shockwaves through the Broadway and entertainment community, as her promising career was cut short in a senseless act of violence. The tragic incident serves as a reminder of the importance of addressing domestic violence and ensuring the safety and well-being of individuals in relationships. Smith’s memory will live on through her impactful performances and the love she shared with those around her.
