Naware founder Mark Boysen embarked on a mission to find a chemical-free solution for killing weeds, inspired by the loss of three family members to cancer possibly linked to groundwater chemicals. His initial attempts with drones and a laser proved unsuccessful due to fire risks, leading him to experiment with steam as a weed-killing alternative.

The innovative system developed by Boysen’s company utilizes computer vision technology to identify weeds in various settings such as lawns, fields, and golf courses, effectively eradicating them with vaporized water. The versatility of the system allows for attachment to mowers, tractors, or ATVs, showcasing its potential to revolutionize traditional weed control methods.

Despite facing challenges in developing the steamer technology and identifying weeds in real-time, Boysen remains confident in Naware’s capabilities. The company targets lawn care providers for athletic fields and golf courses, promising significant cost savings on chemicals and labor expenses.

In pursuit of success, Boysen emphasizes the importance of strategic partnerships, securing patents, and obtaining funding. While currently bootstrapping the venture, he plans to launch Naware’s first fundraising round to propel the company’s growth and establish its position in the market.

With a vision for widespread adoption of his weed-killing solution, Boysen is determined to deliver on his promise of effectiveness and efficiency. Through a combination of cutting-edge technology, strategic partnerships, and innovative approaches, Naware aims to revolutionize the weed control industry and make a lasting impact on environmental sustainability.
