The recent purchase of the Moselle Estate House in Islandton, SC, by Alexander Wallace Blair has brought about some shocking revelations regarding the murders of Maggie and Paul Murdaugh. Blair, who bought the property for $1 million in an auction in February 2024, claims to have uncovered evidence that suggests Alex Murdaugh may be innocent of the crimes he was convicted of.

The estate, which included a four-bedroom, four-and-a-half-bathroom house and 21 acres of land, was the scene of the 2021 murders that led to Alex Murdaugh receiving two life sentences without parole. However, Blair insists that the dog kennel where the murders took place was included in the purchase, despite initial beliefs that it was not part of the property.

After tearing down the kennel, Blair discovered bullet holes in the door and window, leading him to question the narrative of the case. He believes that Murdaugh, who is described as a “big man,” may not have been physically capable of firing the fatal shots. While acknowledging that Murdaugh has a questionable past, Blair expressed doubts about his guilt in this particular case.

Despite not personally knowing Murdaugh, Blair has found support from some of his new neighbors who also believe in his innocence. He even holds onto a set of keys and a keychain that once belonged to Maggie, intending to return them to the family’s surviving son, Richard “Buster” Murdaugh.

The estate, originally purchased by businessmen James Ayer and Jeffrey Godley for $3.9 million, was later divided, with the house and 21 acres put back on the market. Blair managed to acquire the property for half the price, with plans to use it as his secondary residence and remove the negative stigma surrounding it.

Blair has already begun renovations on the property, including tearing down the kennels and Murdaugh’s private airplane hangar. He aims to create a positive narrative for the estate, focusing on the future rather than the tragic events of the past.

With renovations expected to be completed by mid-November, Blair hopes to bring new life to the Moselle Estate House and move forward from the shadow of the Murdaugh murders. Despite Alex Murdaugh’s conviction, Blair remains steadfast in his belief that there may be more to the story than meets the eye.
