A disturbing incident occurred at a Brooklyn subway station when a maniac attacked a stranger with a boxcutter after an accidental bump. Caleb Polidore, 26, allegedly slashed a 33-year-old man in the face, neck, and chest at the 53rd Street R train station in Sunset Park. The altercation escalated from a verbal clash near the turnstile area to a violent confrontation in the mezzanine.

The victim was hospitalized in stable condition, while Polidore fled the scene but was swiftly apprehended by police officers who recovered the weapon. Polidore faced charges of assault, attempted assault, criminal possession of a weapon, menacing, and harassment as per the criminal complaint.

Despite prosecutors’ request for higher bail, Polidore was released on $3,000 cash bail or $20,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in court on January 2. The swift release of the suspect has raised concerns about the safety of the community and the need for stricter consequences for violent crimes.

The incident serves as a reminder of the dangers that can arise in public spaces and the importance of remaining vigilant. Authorities are urging individuals to report any suspicious behavior and to prioritize personal safety when navigating public transportation. It is crucial to address such incidents promptly to ensure the well-being of all commuters and residents.
