A new Spaceballs movie is currently in production at Amazon MGM Studios, with legendary filmmaker Mel Brooks at the helm. The sequel to the beloved 1987 parody film is set to bring back all the colorful characters with an ensemble cast of all-star actors.

Mel Brooks, who directed, co-wrote, and produced the original Spaceballs film, will be returning for the sequel. The cast of the first film included John Candy, Rick Moranis, Bill Pullman, Daphne Zuniga, Dick Van Patten, George Wyner, and Joan Rivers.

News of the sequel first surfaced in June 2024 when Brooks signed on as a producer. It was later announced that Brooks would reprise his role as Yogurt, a parody of the Star Wars character Yoda. Additionally, Bill Pullman and Rick Moranis will be returning for the sequel, joined by some new faces ready to join the wild ride.

Josh Gad, known for his roles in various films and TV shows, will be producing and starring in Spaceballs 2 alongside Mel Brooks. Gad recently teased that the script for the film has been completed, and everyone who has read it has been blown away by the content. Describing the opportunity as a “fever dream,” Gad expressed his excitement to work with Mel Brooks on this project.

Joining the cast of Spaceballs 2 is Keke Palmer, whose role as Destiny remains under wraps. Lewis Pullman, Bill Pullman’s son, will also be part of the cast, portraying a character named Starburst. A recent photo from the first table read showed Moranis, Brooks, Palmer, Pullman, Zuniga, Wyner, and Anthony Carrigan as part of the ensemble, with director Josh Greenbaum also present.

A teaser trailer for Spaceballs 2 was released, featuring Mel Brooks in a Spaceballs sweatshirt and a nod to the iconic line, “May the Schwartz be with you.” The trailer hinted at the film’s release in 2027, promising fans a long-awaited sequel to the original classic.

Bill Pullman shared his excitement about working on Spaceballs 2 with his son, Lewis, during a recent interview. He expressed joy in watching Lewis on set and noted the parallel between Lewis’s age now and his own when he filmed the original Spaceballs movie.

While an official premiere date for Spaceballs 2 has not been announced, fans can look forward to the Schwartz awakening in 2027. Stay tuned for more updates on this highly anticipated sequel to the beloved parody film. The COVID-19 pandemic has brought about significant changes in our daily lives, with many people now working from home, wearing masks in public, and practicing social distancing. As the world continues to navigate through this unprecedented time, it has become increasingly important to prioritize our mental health and well-being.

One of the key ways to maintain good mental health during this challenging period is by staying connected with others. While physical distancing may be necessary to prevent the spread of the virus, it doesn’t mean we have to be socially isolated. Thanks to technology, we can still stay in touch with our loved ones through video calls, phone calls, and social media. Connecting with others can provide a sense of support, comfort, and belonging, which are crucial for our mental health.

Another way to take care of our mental health during the pandemic is by establishing a routine. With many people working from home and children attending school remotely, it can be easy to blur the lines between work and personal time. Setting a schedule and sticking to it can help create a sense of normalcy and structure in our lives. This can include setting aside time for work, exercise, relaxation, and socializing.

In addition to maintaining a routine, it’s important to prioritize self-care during this time. This can involve engaging in activities that bring us joy and relaxation, such as reading, listening to music, practicing mindfulness, or exercising. Taking care of our physical health, by eating nutritious foods and getting enough sleep, can also have a positive impact on our mental well-being.

Furthermore, it’s crucial to stay informed but also limit exposure to negative news and information. While it’s important to stay updated on the latest developments regarding the pandemic, constantly consuming news about the virus can lead to increased anxiety and stress. Setting boundaries around how much news we consume and seeking out reliable sources of information can help us stay informed without becoming overwhelmed.

Lastly, seeking professional help if needed is important for maintaining good mental health during the pandemic. If you’re struggling with feelings of anxiety, depression, or loneliness, reaching out to a mental health professional can provide you with the support and guidance you need. Many therapists and counselors are now offering virtual sessions, making it easier than ever to access mental health services.

Overall, taking care of our mental health during the COVID-19 pandemic is crucial for our well-being. By staying connected with others, establishing a routine, prioritizing self-care, limiting exposure to negative news, and seeking professional help when needed, we can navigate through this challenging time with resilience and strength. Remember, it’s okay to not be okay, and reaching out for help is a sign of strength, not weakness.
