Drake Maye’s stellar performance this season has been a driving force behind the New England Patriots’ resurgence under new coach Mike Vrabel. The team, which had a disappointing 4-13 record last year, has clinched the AFC East division title and secured a spot in the playoffs.

Maye’s exceptional play has thrust him into the MVP conversation, with many comparing him to Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford. However, ESPN analyst Dan Orlovsky sparked a heated debate online when he named Stafford as his favorite to win the MVP over Maye.

Former Raiders linebacker Will Compton called out Orlovsky on Twitter, questioning why he seemed to have a bias against Maye. Orlovsky responded with a list of reasons behind his choice, including rumors about Maye’s draft decisions and his performance in college.

On ESPN’s “First Take,” Orlovsky defended his stance, arguing that Stafford deserved the MVP award due to his high leverage throws and tight window passes. He also suggested that if Stafford were to win the Super Bowl along with the MVP, he would be considered one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time.

In terms of statistics, Stafford has amassed 4,448 yards and 42 touchdowns passing for the Rams, who currently hold an 11-5 record. Meanwhile, Maye has recorded 4,203 yards and 30 touchdowns passing for the Patriots, who are on a two-game winning streak with a 13-3 record.

After a dominant performance against the New York Jets, where Maye threw for 256 yards and five touchdowns, he expressed gratitude for the MVP consideration, emphasizing that it is a team effort.

As the regular season comes to a close, the Patriots are set to face the Miami Dolphins in their final game. The outcome of this match could further solidify Maye’s MVP candidacy.

Overall, the MVP race between Drake Maye and Matthew Stafford remains a hot topic of discussion among football fans and analysts alike. As both quarterbacks lead their teams into the playoffs, the debate over who truly deserves the prestigious award continues to intensify.
