According to Chicago police, the shooting took place in the 3200 block of West Division Street at around 7:04 p.m. An 8-year-old boy discovered a gun inside a second-floor apartment and accidentally discharged the weapon, striking the 7-year-old boy in the arm.
Immediately following the incident, police applied a tourniquet to the child’s arm before he was rushed to Stroger Hospital. The young boy was listed in serious condition with a gunshot wound to his left bicep. Upon searching the apartment, law enforcement recovered a firearm from a bedroom shelf. Surprisingly, no one was taken into custody in connection with the shooting.
